What is Tallow?
Tallow is a rendered form of beef fat (suet), traditionally used in skincare for its nourishing and hydrating properties. It closely resembles the natural oils in human skin, making it highly effective for moisture and repair.
Does your tallow smell like beef?
No, we pride ourselves on using tallow that contains no beefy smell due to the way it's rendered.
Where are your products manufactured?
Our products are carefully and cleanly manufactured in a commercial kitchen by Brynn, our founder, on her family's farm in Taneytown, Maryland.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is calculated based on your location and the items in your order. You will always know the shipping price before you purchase.
When will I get my order?
We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.
do you ship internationally?
Currently, we offer shipping within the USA. We are working towards expanding our international shipping options.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Since a little bit goes a long way, our 2 oz facial moisturizers last anywhere from 2 to 6 months depending on frequency of use and our 4 oz With You Always body balm lasts from 2 to 6 months, again depending on frequency of use. The Perc Up Honey Mask will last 2 months if used twice a week.
Are your products natural/organic?
Yes! We prioritize natural, minimally processed ingredients and source organic whenever possible. Our tallow comes from 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised animals, that are hormone and antibiotic free, and our botanicals and oils are carefully selected for their purity and quality. Because we don't formulate our products with water we don't require the use of heavy preservatives and stick with vitamin e oil and rosemary extract, two natural, mild preservatives.
How do you use tallow based skincare?
A little bit goes a long way. The tallow should absorb into your skin after about 10-15 minutes, if it hasn't done that you've used too much. A pea size amount is really all you need! Tallow balms should be used like a moisturizer - apply after toner and serum, or as the final step in your skincare routine before makeup.
Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Many of our products are formulated with sensitive skin in mind. However, we recommend performing a patch test before full use, especially if you have known allergies or sensitivities.
How should I store tallow products?
We recommend storing our products in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. In warmer climates, some products may soften, but this will not affect their efficacy. You can place them in the fridge to speed up this process.
why do you use 100% grass-fed tallow?
100% grass-fed tallow is superior to grain-fed because it contains a richer profile of vitamins A, D, E, and K, along with higher levels of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids and CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). This nutrient-dense composition provides unparalleled nourishment for the skin while ensuring the animals are raised in their natural, pasture-based environment for ethical and sustainable sourcing.
Where do you source your tallow and how is it rendered?
Our tallow is sourced from 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised animals from wholesale sources. Ethical sourcing and quality are at the heart of what we do. The tallow is wet rendered, which helps avoid burning the fat, something that can happen from dry rendering.
Will tallow make my skin greasy?
While tallow is deeply moisturizing, our formulations are carefully balanced with botanical oils to ensure they absorb well without leaving a greasy residue. It usually takes 10-20 minutes to absorb fully into your skin.
How is tallow different than other skincare?
Tallow is unique because its fatty acid profile is very similar to our skin's natural sebum (your skins oils). This allows it to absorb easily and deliver nutrients effectively, unlike many plant-based oils commonly found in the majority of skincare. Our products also don't contain water like many other products.
