What is Pasture & Petal?

Pasture & Petal is a skincare brand dedicated to creating nourishing, natural products crafted from 100% grass-fed tallow, botanical extracts, and high-quality oils. Our formulations blend ancestral wisdom with modern skincare practices for radiant, healthy skin. The Pasture part of the name honors the life of the cows where our primary ingredient is sourced from, and the Petal honors the botanicals we use to compliment the tallow and elevate each product in its own unique way.

What is Tallow?

Tallow is a rendered form of beef fat (suet), traditionally used in skincare for its nourishing and hydrating properties. It closely resembles the natural oils in human skin, making it highly effective for moisture and repair.

 

How long do your products last?

Since a little bit goes a long way, our 2 oz facial moisturizers last anywhere from 1 to 4 months depending on frequency of use and our 4 oz With You Always body balm lasts from 2 to 6 months, again depending on frequency of use. The Perc Up Honey Mask will last 2 months if used twice a week.

Are your products natural and organic?

Yes! We prioritize natural, minimally processed ingredients and source organic whenever possible. Our tallow comes from 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised animals, that are hormone and antibiotic free, and our botanicals and oils are carefully selected for their purity and quality.

Do you use preservatives?

None! We use organic vitamin E oil and rosemary extract as natural preservatives in most of our products.

 

How do you use tallow balms?

A little bit goes a long way. The tallow should absorb into your skin after about 20-30 minutes, if it hasn't done that you've used too much. A pea size amount is really all you need! Tallow balms should be used like a moisturizer - apply after toner and serum, or as the final step in your skincare routine.

Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?

Many of our products are formulated with sensitive skin in mind. However, we recommend performing a patch test before full use, especially if you have known allergies or sensitivities.

How should I store my tallow-based products?

We recommend storing our products in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. In warmer climates, some products may soften, but this will not affect their efficacy. You can place them in the fridge to speed up this process.

What are the benefits of tallow for skincare?

Tallow is incredibly nourishing for the skin as it closely mimics our skin's natural oils. It is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and essential fatty acids, which help moisturize, repair, and protect the skin barrier.

Why do you use 100% grass-fed Tallow?

100% grass-fed tallow is superior to grain-fed because it contains a richer profile of vitamins A, D, E, and K, along with higher levels of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids and CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). This nutrient-dense composition provides unparalleled nourishment for the skin while ensuring the animals are raised in their natural, pasture-based environment for ethical and sustainable sourcing.

Where does your tallow come from, and how is it rendered?

Our tallow is sourced from 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised animals from trusted farms. Ethical sourcing and quality are at the heart of what we do. The tallow is wet rendered, which helps avoid burning the fat, something that can happen from dry rendering.

Is tallow greasy on the skin?

While tallow is deeply moisturizing, our formulations are carefully balanced with botanical oils to ensure they absorb well without leaving a greasy residue. It usually takes 20-30 minutes to absorb fully into your skin.

How is tallow different from other skincare fats and oils?

Tallow is unique because its fatty acid profile is very similar to our skin's natural sebum. This allows it to absorb easily and deliver nutrients effectively, unlike many plant-based oils.

What is Sebum?
Sebum is a natural oil produced by the sebaceous glands in your skin. It helps to moisturize and protect your skin, keeping it soft, supple, and healthy.

What is the shelf life on tallow products?

Our tallow products have a shelf life of 12+ months when stored properly. They are naturally stable due to the properties of tallow, the absence of water and require no synthetic preservatives.

Are your products safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Many of our products are safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before use.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently, we offer shipping within the USA. We are working towards expanding our international shipping options.
